Former GS Caltex coach Cho Hye-jung, who served as the first female head coach in professional volleyball history, has died at the age of 71.Former head coach
is said to have been fighting pancreatic cancer since the end of last year.
Former coach Cho, nicknamed "I'm a Little Bird" for his small 165cm height as a volleyball player, led Korea to its first medal in ball games at the 1976 Montreal Olympics.
She is survived by her husband, Cho Chang-soo, former acting manager of Samsung, and two daughters, Cho Yoon-hee and Yoon-ji, who played golf.
