Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged allies to take action before North Korean troops deployed to Russia arrive on the battlefield, the Associated Press reported.
"The U.S., Britain and Germany are all waiting for the North Korean military to attack Ukraine," President Zelensky said in a Telegram post.
Zelensky said he knew the location of the North Korean military, suggesting the possibility of a preemptive strike on the camp where the North Korean military is training.
But "to strike deep targets inside Russia is impossible without permission from Western allies for the use of long-range weapons," it added.
The U.S. government said on the 31st of last month that about 8,000 North Korean soldiers are preparing to fight Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region of Russia.
Western leaders view North Korean troops' dispatch to Russia as an opportunity to advance North Korea's nuclear and missile program threats through Russia's technology transfer, the Associated Press analyzed.
Ukrainian forces, which have focused on defending their territory since the start of the war, have entered the Kursk region of mainland Russia since August and have been in fierce battle with Russia.
