The government has announced 50,000 new housing sites in downtown Seoul and the metropolitan area close to Seoul. After the announcement of the
8·8 housing supply revitalization plan, there was a lot of interest in where it would be designated, but the location was finally designated.
I'm connecting with the reporter. Reporter Choi Ayoung!
Please tell me where it was announced!
[Reporter]
The new housing site announced today is exactly 54,400 units, 20,000 units in downtown Seoul and 30,400 units outside Seoul.
downtown Seoul is a so-called "Seoripul District" that includes Wonji-dong, Shinwon-dong, Yeomgok-dong, Naegok-dong, and Umyeon-dong in Seocho-gu, and it is 2.21 million square meters.
In the case of housing sites in the Surrey Pool district, 10,000 households, or 55%, will be supplied as long-term lease houses for newlyweds.
The other three are Goyang Daegok, Uiwang A.M., Wanggok, and Uijeongbu Yonghyeon districts, each located in the northwest, south, and north of Seoul.
Goyang is a part of Naegok-dong, Daejang-dong, Hwajeong-dong, Todang-dong, and Jugyo-dong in Deokyang-gu, with 9,400 units on 199,000㎡, and Uiwang-si has 14,000 units on 1.87 million㎡ in the areas of Aam-dong and Wanggok-dong.
And Uijeongbu has 7,000 units on 810,000 square meters of land in Singok-dong and Yonghyeon-dong.
All of the housing sites in Gyeonggi-do announced this time are within 10km of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's border, and 96% of the sites announced are restricted development zones.
The government said on August 8 that it would supply 80,000 new housing units in a plan to boost housing supply, but the location of 50,000 units was announced this time, and the plan is to announce 30,000 units next year.

Seoul and the metropolitan area, which have a large population, are likely to be interested, so what are your plans for the future?
[Reporter]
As the announcement of the new housing site came as a measure to stabilize housing prices, the government plans to proceed with related procedures as soon as possible to take advantage of the effect.
First of all, since the candidate site was announced today, there are still procedures for district designation, construction, and sales.
Before designation, the administrative procedures, such as the commencement of resident hearings and compensation investigations and the early establishment of district plans, were shortened as much as possible.
After completing the district designation in the first half of 2026, it said it aims to sell for the first time in 2029 and move in for the first time in 2031.

The supply of new housing sites is good, but what is always worrisome is the fear of speculation. Do you have any countermeasures against this?
[Reporter]
The government also seems to be paying a lot of attention to this, saying it will thoroughly implement the so-called four anti-speculation measures: prevention, detection, punishment, and recovery.
First of all, in order to check speculation using undisclosed development information, 15,275 people, including Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport employees and business proposers, and direct dependents related to the work were surveyed on the status of land ownership in the presentation district.
As a result, one LH employee owned land in the candidate site, which was acquired as a gift in February 2010, showed that the probability of speculation using development information was low.
It also said it analyzed 5,335 transactions in the past five years in the announcement district and neighboring regions, selecting 1,752 transactions suspected of abnormalities, and going into an in-depth analysis.
Once the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport conducts its own investigation, it plans to ask the National Police Agency to investigate if any abnormalities are confirmed.
In addition, the remaining three areas other than the Surrey Pool area, which has already been designated as land transaction permit zones, will be designated as land transaction permit zones as of today to curb speculative demand.
