Former President Donald Trump, a Republican candidate for the U.S. presidential election, declared victory in the presidential election, referring to the attempted assassination that targeted him four months ago.
"Many people have told me that God saved my life for a reason," former President Trump said in a speech at the convention center in West Palm Beach, Florida, adding, "The reason is to save our country and restore the United States to greatness. Now we will fulfill that mission," he said.
"Nothing can stop us from keeping our promises to our people," he said, stressing that "we will make America safe, strong, prosperous, powerful and free again."
Earlier on July 13, former President Trump was shot in the right ear during Butler's campaign in Pennsylvania.
Shortly after the shooting, he repeatedly clenched his fists in front of the audience while evacuating with the help of agents surrounding him, drawing a heated response from supporters.
The day after the incident, he wrote on his social media Truth Social, "God has prevented the unimaginable. I will fight against evil," he wrote.
