The death toll could exceed 300 as 89 people are still missing due to the heavy flooding that swept through southeastern Spain.

So far, 219 people have died.

The Valencia High Court told X on the evening of the 5th local time that "89 people have been reported missing so far."

It is the first time that Spanish authorities have revealed the number of missing people in the floods, and they have not released specific numbers to prevent the spread of unconfirmed information.

Most of the missing were in the Valencia region, including two Chinese nationals, two Romanian nationals, one Ecuadorian and three British nationals.

No bodies have been found so far in the underground parking lot of a large shopping mall outside Valencia, which was feared to cause a large number of deaths.

The Spanish government has decided to provide 10.6 billion euros (about 16 trillion won) to help flood-stricken areas, and has also increased the number of soldiers and police mobilization to 15,000 to search for missing people and recover affected areas.
