Namyangju C Company was found to have sold products online and made signs and advertisements that could be recognized as effective in treating diseases such as "fractional effect of foot failure, effective against diabetes and high blood pressure."
In accordance with the Food Labeling and Advertising Act, unfair labeling or advertising can result in up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to 100 million won.
In addition, under the Health Functional Food Act, unreported sales are subject to imprisonment of up to five years, fines of up to 50 million won, and imprisonment of up to three years or fines of up to 30 million won for storing products that have expired.
