As the administrative integration work of Daegu and Gyeongbuk has begun in earnest, resident briefing sessions are continuing by region.

However, some regions, such as northern Gyeongsangbuk-do, are voicing opposition, saying that regional alienation and extinction will accelerate.

Members of the Andong and Yecheon-gun councils who oppose the administrative integration of Daegu and Gyeongbuk gathered together.

If the integration is achieved, the administration, politics, and industry will be reorganized around Daegu, and the northern part of North Gyeongsang Province will be extinguished faster.

Some argue that the government, Daegu City, and Gyeongsangbuk-do are pushing for integration without collecting residents' opinions.

Despite concerns, preparations for administrative integration have been on track.

Daegu City and Gyeongsangbuk-do hold briefing sessions by region to inform residents of the administrative integration plan and effectiveness.

Based on this, we plan to submit a special law to the National Assembly within this year with the consent of the city and provincial councils.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security has begun reviewing the reorganization of the administrative system, which includes the integration of cities, counties, and districts and strengthening the functions of metropolitan bases.

President Yoon Suk Yeol also recently met with Daegu Mayor Hong Joon Pyo and North Gyeongsang Province Governor Lee Chul-woo at the Central Regional Cooperation Conference held in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, to strengthen the integration of TK administration.

Attention is focusing on the process ahead to see if the unprecedented administrative integration of regional organizations will be able to clean up concerns about regional opposition and cruise.
