, the phrase "Women are a pushover" was written all at once.
When it was recently revealed that there was a discussion about converting Dongduk Women's University to co-educational, some students protested.
The student council said in a handwritten poster and a statement, "We are completely opposed to the engineering transformation that threatens women, the basis of Dongduk Women's University," and is also holding a "filibuster" in front of the main building from 10 a.m. today (11th).
In response, the school rushed to evolve, saying, "The transition of male and female engineering has only been discussed as one of the various measures for university development, but it is not a fixed issue."
This is not the first time that women's universities have considered converting engineering.
In 2015 and 2018, Deokseong Women's University and Sungshin Women's University mentioned the engineering transition, respectively, but stopped due to opposition from students.
Currently, there are only seven four-year women's universities nationwide, including Dongduk Women's University, Ewha Women's University, and Sookmyung Women's University.
Should we look at it as a preparation for the reality of female college transformation, population decline, or is it a threat to the women's educational space? What do you think?
