"More than half of Japanese people want cooperation between ruling party and third opposition party"

Sixty-six percent of Japanese people want the second Ishiba Shigeru Cabinet, which was launched as a minority ruling party system in 30 years, to cooperate with the third opposition party to promote its policies on the 11th.

In addition, about half of the Japanese think that former President Donald Trump's election in the U.S. presidential election is not good for Japan.

The Yomiuri Shimbun reported that a survey of more than 1,000 voters from the 11th to the 12th showed that 66% of the respondents supported a "partial coalition" in which the minority ruling party cooperates with the third opposition National Democratic Party.

In last month's parliamentary elections, the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and the ruling New Komeito remained at 215 seats combined, 18 seats short of the lower house's 465-seat majority of 233.

The ruling party is pushing for cooperation with the National Democratic Party of Korea, which has similar policy directions, as it cannot pass the budget bill and legislation alone without opposition cooperation.

Ishiba's Cabinet approval rating stood at 43 percent, up 9 percentage points from the survey conducted immediately after last month's general election.

However, it is still low compared to the results of a poll with a 51% approval rating on the 1st and 2nd of last month, shortly after the first Ishiba Cabinet was launched.
