Singer Kim Ho-joong continues his imprisonment.
The Seoul Central District Court sentenced Kim Ho-joong, who was arrested and charged with dangerous driving injuries, running away injuries under the Specific Crime Aggravated Punishment Act, and inaction after an accident under the Road Traffic Act, to two and a half years in prison today (13th).
The court criticized Kim Ho-joong for trying to cover up the accident, saying, "Kim Ho-joong shocked the victim's driver taxi while driving under the influence, causing human and material damage, but he ran irresponsibly and made his manager and others turn himself in to the investigation agency on his behalf."
In addition, he said, "Kim Ho-joong made excuses that are difficult to understand, and the situation after the crime is poor."
At around 11:44 p.m. on May 9, Kim Ho-joong was driving while drinking in Apgujeong-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, when he violated the central line and collided with a taxi opposite him. Later, he was arrested and charged with attempting to change the driver to cover up the accident.
At the final hearing, Kim Ho-joong said, "I regret my choice that day even more now that I have come to this time," adding, "I will try to live a life that does not repeat the same mistake." I will stay alert and live upright," he said in his final statement. At that time, the prosecution demanded a three-and-a-half-year prison term for Kim Ho-joong.
Kim Ho-joong, who was on trial during his arrest, continued his imprisonment following the sentence of the first trial.
