Minjoo Kim Won-i said, "Inevitable to agree on the nuclear power plant"It's not a fundamental policy change."

Rep. Kim Won-i of the Democratic Party of Korea explained at the National Assembly's Trade, Industry and Energy Small and Medium Venture Business Committee that the ruling and opposition parties agreed on next year's budget for nuclear power plants according to the government's proposal was an inevitable decision for negotiations.

In a call with YTN, Kim, secretary of the opposition Sanjia Committee, said he had given up cutting the nuclear power plant budget at the request of the ruling party, which secured the chairman of the Sanjia Committee, to cut the budget for the "Great Whale Project."

He then explained that it is unreasonable to say that the Democratic Party of Korea has fundamentally changed the direction of its nuclear power plant policy over the issue of next year's budget plan.

However, he added that while the Democratic Party maintains its stance of putting renewable energy at the center, it has a pragmatic aspect of accepting the lack of energy sources to replace nuclear power plants in line with the global trend of "decarbonization."
