Kim Eui-hwan, consul general to New York, told YTN that he was furious and angry at the opposition's offensive to demand his resignation.

Opposition parties claimed that Consul General Kim was inappropriate, saying he was Kim Gun-hee's line.
He also took issue with the remarks at the Liberation Day celebration, saying, "It is a day to thank the United States for bringing liberation from Japanese strengths," and "We need to crush pro-North Korean leftist forces."
