President Yoon Suk Yeol will hold a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Lima, Peru, shortly.

At the first Korea-China summit in two years, the two leaders are expected to discuss economic cooperation as well as illegal military cooperation between North Korea and Russia.

President Yoon Suk Yeol arrived in Lima, Peru, where the APEC summit will be held, 21 hours after takeoff from Seongnam Seoul Airport.

It is the first visit to a Latin American country since taking office, and the first time in nine years that our incumbent president has visited Peru since former President Park Geun Hye in 2015.President Yun

will hold his first bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in two years on the morning of the 15th local time.

An official from the presidential office said, "As military cooperation between North Korea and Russia progresses, South Korea and China's strategic direction is in front of us, and since the U.S. presidential election is over, we should look at the challenges from a new perspective," adding, "The dialogue between the two leaders will take place at a macro level beyond current issues."

On the afternoon of the same day, the Korea-U.S.-Japan summit will follow.

It is expected to be the first trilateral meeting attended by Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba and a farewell meeting with U.S. President Biden.

The leaders of South Korea, the U.S. and Japan, who will sit face to face for the first time in 15 months, are expected to reaffirm their commitment to continuing trilateral cooperation under the Biden administration and discuss concrete measures.

A bilateral meeting between President Yoon and U.S. President Biden will also be held separately.

The Korea-Japan summit will be held on the 16th, local time, the next day, and a way to develop bilateral relations in a future-oriented manner will be sought ahead of the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations next year.

The presidential office is also preparing for bilateral talks with about 10 other countries, including Vietnam, Brunei, and Canada.During the two-day APEC summit, President

Yoon will discuss cooperation measures to support inclusive economic growth and vulnerable groups.

In addition, he will also engage in dialogue with businessmen in member countries, and in particular, the CEO Summit will present the vision of the next year's Gyeongju APEC summit through a keynote speech.

However, the president's office said the plan to meet with U.S. President-elect Trump on this trip to South America is unlikely to happen.
