Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, has been put on trial on charges of personal misappropriation of corporate cards in Gyeonggi Province when he was governor of Gyeonggi Province.

The prosecution believed that CEO Lee misappropriated about 160 million won by buying food to eat personally with a corporate card or using an official car like a car.

The prosecution handed over Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, to trial again.

This is the sixth prosecution against CEO Lee on charges of privately misappropriating the Gyeonggi-do corporate card.

The prosecution pointed out that CEO Lee privately spent 165.53 million won in Gyeonggi Province's budget for three years from 2018, and that a large number of government officials were mobilized in the process and systematically misappropriated the budget.

The prosecution pointed out that representative Lee hired Bae, who has been in charge of the Seongnam mayoral election camp since 2010, as a public servant and took over the role of the team leader of the so-called "mother team," and various budget misappropriations were made under Bae's leadership.

The wife's team said they paid for 75 cases of beef and sushi requested by Lee and his wife with a corporate card in Gyeonggi-do Province, worth 8.89 million won.

He also said that the representative couple used Gyeonggi Province's budget to buy sandwiches for breakfast, laundry expenses, and fruits for family rituals, and filled out false documents such as employee overtime and meetings.

In addition, immediately after Lee's inauguration as governor, Gyeonggi Province purchased the Genesis G80 for 65.4 million won, and the secretary pretended to use it as a protocol official car, but used it like a private car throughout Lee's term, prosecutors said.

The prosecution believes that CEO Lee spent at least 60 million won on rent, gas, car washing, and fines through this.

Along with CEO Lee, the prosecution indicted without detention the then chief of staff, identified only by his surname Jeong, and identified only by his surname Bae, on charges of professional breach of duty.

However, in the case of his wife, Kim Hye-kyung, he explained that the prosecution was suspended in consideration of the fact that CEO Lee was indicted on the same charges.

Representative Lee, who was recently sentenced to one year in prison and two years of probation in the first trial for making false remarks during the last presidential election, will face a fifth trial, up to charges of professional breach of trust.
