Following the national railway union's departure from work, the Seoul subway has begun counting down to a general strike.
The Seoul Transportation Corporation union, which operates lines 1 to 8, has declared that it will go on strike on the 6th of next month, opposing restructuring and demanding higher wages.

The first union of the Seoul Transportation Corporation held a press conference to declare a strike at the end of the mediation period of the labor dispute.

It said that if the
negotiations finally break down, a general strike will begin on the 6th of next month.

The union claimed that the Seoul Metropolitan Government is pushing for a large-scale restructuring, which has reduced the number of on-site personnel and is now about to introduce a "one-person crew system" that is dangerous for both workers and citizens.
At the same time, it criticized the corporation for refusing to comply with the government's wage increase standards for the fourth consecutive year.
The "Right Union," the third union of the Seoul Transportation Corporation, also announced a rally for industrial action and a vote for and against the strike.
They are asking the Seoul Metropolitan Government to support policy personnel expenses along with the addition of 232 safety-related personnel.
The Korea Transportation Corporation said it will do its best to negotiate before the strike so that there will be no inconvenience to citizens.
