The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency issued emergency school bells to more than 1,300 schools and 780,000 parents in Seoul today (20th) to pay attention to online crimes against teenagers during the winter vacation.
The school bell, which was spread in the form of card news, contained warnings that illegal online gambling, digital sex crimes such as deepfakes, and drugs could be severely punished.
The police will also set the "Youth Online Crime Prevention Period" from the 14th to February 9th next year, when the winter vacation ends, and conduct online crime prevention education and specialized organization-linked activities for addicted youths, focusing on 150 school police officers.
Kim Bong-sik, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, said, "As online crimes for teenagers have recently become a big social problem and the damage is as serious as adults, we plan to respond strictly."
