The revision of the Public Official Election Act, proposed by Park Hee-seung, a former judge, on the 14th, includes removing the crime of publicizing false information and the crime of defamation of candidates.

On the 15th, Rep. Park also proposed a bill to raise the penalty, which is the standard for depriving the right to vote, from 1 million won to 10 million won in fines.

On the 15th, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Lee Jae-myung, who was indicted on charges of publicizing false information, to one year in prison and two years of probation in the first trial of violating the Public Official Election Act.
