U.S. Democrats speed up appointment of progressive judge in federal court before Trump takes office

The U.S. Democratic Party is speeding up to complete the confirmation of federal judges nominated by President Joe Biden before President-elect Donald Trump takes office, the Washington Post reported.

The Washington Post reported on the 22nd local time that the Republican Party will become the Senate majority with the power to confirm judges from January next year due to the Democratic Party's election defeat.

The Senate confirmed President Biden's 221st justice nominee a day earlier and is expected to continue the confirmation process when lawmakers return next month after the Thanksgiving recess.

The Washington Post says Democrats in the Senate have agreed with Republicans to confirm 12 first-court judges instead of withdrawing four appeals court judges nominated by President Biden.A spokesperson for Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer
described the exchange of four appellate court nominees who lacked the votes needed for confirmation for more than three times as many judges.

In the meantime, federal judges are calling on the House of Representatives to deal with judge laws that will create 66 new federal judges across the country over the next decade to resolve the trial delays caused by the lack of judges.

The Washington Post added that some Democrats are hesitant to pass the bill because if the bill is passed, more judges will be nominated by Trump.
