Amid a series of confirmations of cows infected with avian influenza in the United States, the avian influenza virus was detected in raw milk sold in California, putting state health authorities on alert.
California health officials warned against eating the product on the 25th local time, saying that the avian influenza virus was found in raw milk produced by a company called Raw Farm.
The milk is a product that has an expiration date of the 27th, and the company has recalled the milk at the request of state health authorities.
It is pointed out that if raw milk contaminated with the avian influenza virus is distributed on the market, the possibility of consumers being infected with avian influenza on a large scale cannot be ruled out.
Raw milk, unlike commonly sold milk, does not undergo pasteurization, so harmful bacteria or viruses can remain.
Currently, California has reported 29 cases of human infection with avian influenza since October, most of which were caused by direct contact with cattle infected with avian influenza.
