"Hamas notifies Arbitration Bureau of 'Ready to Agreement on Gaza Cease-fire'"

2024.11.27 PM 04:53
Palestinian militant Hamas says it is ready to stop fighting Israel and agree a ceasefire.

"Hamas informed the moderators of Egypt, Qatar and Turkiye that it was ready for a serious deal for a ceasefire agreement and a prisoner exchange," a senior Hamas official said on condition of anonymity, according to AFP news agency on the 27th local time.

At the same time, AFP added that the Israeli side had been interfering with the ceasefire agreement.

This position comes shortly after the Lebanese pro-Iranian militant Hezbollah, which has helped Hamas attack Israel, entered a ceasefire with Israel.

Hezbollah and Israel agreed to a 60-day temporary cease-fire the day before, mediated by the United States and others, and began a cease-fire at 4 a.m. that day.

Israeli forces are expected to withdraw ground forces from southern Lebanon, and Hezbollah will reportedly create a buffer zone between the two sides, pulling heavy weapons north of Lebanon's Ritani River, about 30 kilometers from the Lebanon-Israel border.

The news has raised expectations among Palestinian Gaza residents that a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah would lead to a ceasefire in Gaza.

Health officials in Hamas-controlled Gaza say the war has killed more than 44,000 Palestinians in Gaza and injured more than 104,000.
