The Board of Audit and Inspection has entered a special audit, saying it will examine the problems of national coaches and athletes, and the Korea Sports Council and affiliated associations.

The process of appointing Hong Myung-bo as a national soccer coach and allegations related to the Korea Badminton Association, as well as Lee Ki-heung, chairman of the Korea Sports Council, who recently challenged for a third term amid controversy, are expected to be key audit targets.

The Board of Audit and Inspection has drawn its sword to a series of recent controversies and suspicions in the sports community.

It started a special audit of the overall operation, including the Korea Sports Association and affiliated associations.

There is also a wide range of audits.

First, it included the national coach and player selection process, support and protection status.

For this reason, the Korea Football Association's discussion process over the appointment of Hong Myung-bo as a national soccer coach is considered the top audit.

The Board of Audit and Inspection also said it plans to look at the overall status of the operation of the Korea Sports Association, structural problems of affiliated sports organizations, irrationality of subsidies and donations, and supervision by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Lee Ki-heung, president of the Korea Sports Council, who declared his bid for the third term despite strong criticism, and Chung Mong-kyu, president of the Korea Football Association, who is weighing his bid for the fourth term, are expected to be the main subjects of the audit.

At the same time, the absurd operation of the Badminton Association, which was criticized by Ahn Se-young, a gold medalist at the Paris Olympics, is also difficult to avoid a special audit.

The Board of Audit and Inspection, which has been collecting data, has decided to receive reports on irregularities, human rights violations, and operational irregularities by the Korea Sports Council and affiliated sports organizations through the Board of Audit and Inspection's website for a month until the 27th of next month.

The Board of Audit and Inspection stressed that it will try to improve the chronic and structural problems of the sports community as well as unfair practices through this special audit.
