First day of the Israeli-Hezbollah ceasefire...Refugees in southern Lebanon begin to return home

2024.11.27 PM 07:07
With Israel and Lebanese militant Hezbollah agreeing to a ceasefire, the procession of refugees from southern Lebanon has begun.

Foreign media, including the Associated Press, reported that residents of southern Lebanon, who had fled from Israeli attacks, began returning home this morning (27th) local time.

Earlier, Lebanese authorities stressed that Israeli forces should not return to villages in the border area until they are fully withdrawn, and said Israeli forces are also prohibited from accessing Israeli military bases in evacuation areas.

However, dozens of vehicles reportedly departed south from near the capital Beirut shortly after the early morning cease-fire took effect.

Today, Lebanon was quiet for the first time since September, when the Israeli military's offensive intensified, and a celebratory atmosphere was felt in some areas, the AP said.
