In opposition to the opposition's push to impeach the prosecutor, senior prosecutors at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office issued a collective statement.

The Justice Minister also criticized the prosecutor's impeachment drive, saying, "Impeach yourself if you want to hold political responsibility."

In response to the Democratic Party's announcement of the impeachment of the command, including Lee Chang-soo, head of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, Cho Sang-won, the 4th chief prosecutor, and Choi Jae-hoon, the second head of the anti-corruption investigation, senior prosecutors at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office issued a collective statement.

It is unusual for senior-level prosecutors to issue a collective statement under their real names after three deputy prosecutors expressed their opposition to impeachment the day before.

The statement was joined by 33 people except Choi Jae-hoon, the second head of the anti-corruption investigation, who was accused of impeachment when he cleared Kim Gun-hee of the Deutsche Motors stock price manipulation case.

Prosecutors explained in a statement that even looking at the "reason for impeachment" issued by the opposition party, they could not find a violation of the constitution and law serious enough to dismiss the prosecutors.

Nevertheless, politicians criticized the attempt to impeach the prosecutor as an unconstitutional and illegal attempt to undermine the basic values of the Constitution and punish the rule of law.

As soon as the impeachment bill is passed, the prosecutor's office will be suspended, he also highlighted that the function of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, the nation's largest prosecutor's office, will be paralyzed.

The Minister of Justice also came to the National Assembly and raised his voice, saying, "Impeach yourself at least."

With a report on the impeachment of three leaders of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office scheduled at the National Assembly next month, the level of opposition is rising.
