President Yoon Meets with Ukrainian Special Envoy Visiting South Korea

President Yoon Suk Yeol met with a special delegation of Ukrainian presidents to find effective countermeasures against security threats caused by military cooperation between Russia and North Korea.

The two sides also agreed to communicate with the U.S. as a "one team," including President-elect Donald Trump.

President Yoon Suk Yeol met with a delegation of special envoys from Ukraine who visited South Korea, led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sent a special envoy as a follow-up to his call with President Yoon on the 29th of last month.President

Yoon welcomed the envoys and said he hoped South Korea and Ukraine would come up with effective countermeasures to cope with security threats posed by Russia-North Korea military cooperation.President Yun

The Ukrainian envoys also met with National Security Office chief Shin Won-sik and Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun in turn,

The presidential office then explained that South Korea and Ukraine have decided to continue sharing information on North Korea's dispatch of troops to Russia and the transfer of weapons and technology between Russia and North Korea in the future.

The two sides have also decided to communicate closely with the United States, and Trump, as well as the current Biden administration, will increase the level of cooperation among the three countries as he emphasizes a "one-team" response to the Ukraine crisis.

Meanwhile, some foreign media reported that Ukraine's envoys would ask the South Korean government for weapons aid, but officials in the president's office said it is difficult to disclose whether related conversations have come and gone as it is a sensitive security issue.
