U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has named former Vice Presidential National Security Adviser Keith Kellogg, a general-turned-military general, as his special envoy to take charge of ending the war in Ukraine.

Trump issued a statement saying he was very happy to nominate General Kellogg as a presidential aide and special envoy to Ukraine and Russia.

He also stressed that Gen. Kellogg had excellent leadership in the military and industry by taking on the sensitive national security sector during his first administration, and that we would achieve "peace through strength" and make the United States and the world safe again.

Kellogg, a Vietnam War veteran-turned-retired Army lieutenant general, served as Vice President Mike Pence's national security adviser and general secretary of the National Security Council during Trump's first term in office.
