Dozens of cars got tangled in the road.

The road turned into a chaos as the car was unable to move due to a series of crashes.

Some vehicles were severely crushed and broken.

The fire department and the police are dispatched to deal with the scene, but the scene of the accident is rarely cleaned up.

The accident happened around 5:50 p.m.

Fifty-three cars collided in a series on a downhill road near the Manjong Intersection in Hojeo-myeon, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do.

The rush hour overlapped, adding to the congestion, and the roads were closed. It has been found that 11 people were injured in the

accident, some of which have been taken to hospitals for treatment.

The scene was settled about two hours after the accident as the snowstorm subsided, and the road control was also lifted, but the citizens of the accident had to suffer great inconvenience on the road for a while.

The cause of the accident is believed to be black ice. We weigh in on the possibility that the road turned into icy roads as the fallen snow melted and froze.

When the temperature drops after the snow falls, a thin ice film is formed on the road, and it is considered to be the main cause of traffic accidents after heavy snow because it is not easily seen by drivers.

Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident based on CCTV footage and drivers' statements.

Special attention is required for drivers as it is predicted to snow again overnight in some parts of Gangwon-do.
