Since 7 a.m. yesterday, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, along with autonomous districts and related organizations, has upgraded the snow removal emergency work to two levels to respond to all-out snow removal.

Currently, more than 11,000 personnel and 1,900 equipment are mobilized to immediately respond to snowfall, such as spraying snow removal agents and pushing snow off the road.

Additional public transportation such as subways and buses was also operated to minimize congestion on commuting.

Following yesterday, the Seoul Metropolitan Transportation Corporation has increased the concentrated dispatch time to work by 30 minutes today, and is operating 20 more trains than usual from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government said 63 accidents were caused by snowfall for two days.

By type, 48 street tree falls, 10 traffic accidents, 1 construction site collapse, and 4 power outages.

Gyeonggi Province also raised the emergency response stage of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters from 2nd to 3rd as of 10 p.m. last night to minimize heavy snow damage.

In the meantime, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education ordered all schools in the jurisdiction to consider closing schools at the discretion of the principal, saying that heavy snow and low temperatures are feared to cause safety accidents for students.
