A handwritten letter written by John Lennon, who left the legendary British rock band The Beatles, to Eric Clapton asking him to join a new band he will create is up for auction, CNN reported.

Lennon's letter, written on September 29, 1971, is eight pages long and will be auctioned online on the 5th of next month, with an estimated successful bid price of 150,000 euros and 220 million won in our money.

In the letter, Lennon asked Clapton to join him, saying he planned to create a "superband" involving high-profile producers and musicians to tour the world, including Russia and China.

Auctioneer International Autograph Auction Europe described the letter as a rare one that contained Lennon's unrelenting passion for music and what could have been a monumental period in rock music history.

John Lennon, however, died on December 8, 1980, failing to realize the idea of forming a "super band."
