According to the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council and the Fire Officials' Union, a report of a fire in Hwasan-dong, Sangju City, was received at around 3:40 p.m. on the 18th by the 119 situation room.
The man who reported the fire was found to be an employee of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council Construction Fire Committee.
Fire authorities dispatched two large pump cars to the scene, one of which arrived in eight minutes. At the site, straws and other weeds were burning in a relatively narrow area.

The Gyeongbuk Provincial Council Construction Fire Committee said, "We planned this inspection while moving to Gumi Fire Station after completing an administrative audit at Sangju Fire Station on the same day.
