Operation of the 'emergency room monitoring system for cold diseases' in preparation for cold weather in winter

2024.11.28 PM 12:50
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it will operate a "cold disease emergency room monitoring system" from next month to February next year to manage health damage caused by cold waves in winter.

Accordingly, about 510 emergency rooms nationwide will identify cold patients who visited the hospital and monitor and report the health effects of cold waves.

The current status of cold diseases collected by the monitoring system will be published daily on the website of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The total number of cold patients reported by the monitoring system last winter was 400, down 10.5% from 447 the previous year.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention asked the elderly and children to refrain from outdoor activities and pay attention to keeping warm in the event of a cold wave because they are more vulnerable to maintaining body temperature than adults.
