The president's office says Yoon Suk Yeol's president and senior staff at senior secretary level and above are donating some of their remuneration to their needy neighbors.
An official from the president's office said that government officials, including the president, withheld 10% of their annual salary and donated it to Korean enemies every month to help the vulnerable who are slow to recover.
Last year, senior-level government officials at the presidential office and all ministries and vice ministers donated 10% of their remuneration to the Korean Social Welfare Council.
The presidential office's senior level or higher has been participating in donations for two consecutive years, and the presidential office plans to continue donating.
A high-ranking official of the presidential office said, "This year, the decision was made voluntarily only for senior-level officials in the presidential office and above," adding, "It is different from the collective return conducted last year."
According to data from the Ministry of Personnel Management, President Yoon's annual salary this year is 254.93 million won, and President Yoon is donating about 2 million won a month this year.
