Designation of National Important Fishing Heritage for 'Gangneung Changgyeong Bari Fishing'

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said it has designated Gangneung Changgyeong Bari Fishing as a national important fishing heritage No. 14.

'Gangneung Changgyeong Bari Fishing' is a fishing industry that collects seaweeds and aquatic organisms after securing underwater visibility using a tool called 'Changgyeong' with a transparent bottom.

Changgyeong Bari Fishing was popular in Gangwon Province until the 1970s, but now it continues the traditional method only in Gangdong-myeon, Gangneung-si.
