School irregular workers union "will no longer live as ghost workers in schools"

Chaos in the education field seems inevitable as non-regular workers in charge of school meals and care services declare a general strike on the 6th.

The National Federation of Non-regular School Workers held a press conference to declare a general strike at the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) today (3rd) and announced the reason for the declaration of a general strike, saying the government has no will to resolve wage discrimination among non-regular workers in schools.

At the same time, the union said it tried to talk to each city and provincial education office right before the strike, but refused to negotiate and talk, and stressed that it condemns the Ministry of Education for not playing any role.

He also said the general strike was a declaration that he would no longer live as a ghost worker in schools and a move to resist power that did not listen to the appeals of non-regular workers.

He added that even after the first general strike, the second strike will be stronger if there is no determination and forward-looking response from the Education Ministry and superintendents.

60,000 out of 170,000 non-regular workers across the country are expected to participate in the general strike, and bread and milk will be provided for lunch at some schools on the same day and caring alternatives will be deployed.
