Chairman Woo said, "We need to flexibly solve the medical school quota..."We need financial measures for free high school education."

Woo Won-sik, chairman of the National Assembly, said it is regrettable that the differences between the legislatures have not narrowed over the number of medical schools for next year, and urged the government to flexibly solve the problem.

Chairman Woo met with Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Lee Ju-ho at the National Assembly and said, "This problem arose as we increased the number of people without social consensus."

He also called for the government to come up with stable fiscal measures, fearing that the central government's failure to pay for free high school education starting next year could also lead to educational deviations from region to region.

In response, Deputy Prime Minister Lee said that the medical community, the government and the National Assembly have been making efforts to find a way for dialogue over the past month, and asked the opposition party to attend when the consultative body opens again to help advance healthcare reform.

The principle is that free high school education should be financed by local financial grants, and the Ministry of Education said that although there may be some imbalances between regions, it can be supported in consultation with individual education offices.
