The second impeachment vote against President Yoon Suk Yeol will be held today (14th) in the National Assembly.

The ruling and opposition parties will hold a general meeting of lawmakers from the morning to come up with countermeasures, and attention is being paid to what the ruling party, which abolished the impeachment bill by missing last week's vote, will conclude.

What time will the plenary session be held?

[Reporter]
It will be held from 4 p.m.

The opposition initially announced a vote at 5 p.m.

However, the National Assembly speaker's office explained that it has advanced the time as it is a serious and serious issue nationally.

The impeachment bill was proposed by six opposition parties, including the Democratic Party.

As in the first round, the second impeachment bill stipulated "emergency martial law in violation of the Constitution and laws" as the reason for impeachment.

However, things that are not directly related to martial law, such as Kim Gun-hee's stock price manipulation or allegations of manipulation of public opinion in the presidential election, were excluded.

The additional reasons for impeachment include the situation in which martial law forces occupied the National Election Commission or attempted to arrest lawmakers.

There were also allegations that he tried to make room for politicians and journalists in the Seoul Eastern Detention Center.

Analysts say that the focus is on martial law, but it also shows confidence that impeachment will be possible with just martial law.

What are the terms of the impeachment motion?

[Reporter]
In order for the impeachment bill to pass, more than two-thirds of the registered lawmakers need to approve it.

More than 200 out of 300 lawmakers need approval.

The pan-night district has 192 seats, and 108 lawmakers belong to the ruling party, the People's Power.

If all opposition parties vote in favor, it will be passed if more than eight people vote in favor of the people's power.

Last week's first impeachment vote was abandoned because the quorum itself was not established.

This is because the ruling party abolished the impeachment bill by boycotting the vote to prevent possible departure votes.

If the impeachment bill crosses the threshold of the National Assembly today, President Yoon's duties will be suspended immediately.

The ruling party decided against the impeachment bill last week, or "no vote," as the party's theory, but what is the outlook this time?

[Reporter]
The floor leadership's position is that "the party's theory is still rejected."

The problem is the airflow that has changed in a week.

So far, seven lawmakers have publicly expressed their "yes" intention to impeach.

The day before yesterday (12th), Chairman Han Dong-hoon publicly proposed that the party vote in favor of impeachment, but since it is an anonymous vote, many predict that more than eight people will vote in favor once they enter the polling place.

About two hours later, at 10 a.m., a general meeting of lawmakers presided over by floor leader Kwon Sung-dong will be held.

Here, fierce discussions are expected to take place on whether to change the party's theory or leave only the participation in the vote open, or decide whether to agree or disagree.

But there's no way to force party lines.

The Democratic Party will also hold a closed general meeting of lawmakers from the morning to discuss response strategies.
