The U.S. Costco business plan to open a store in Iksan, North Jeolla Province, for the first time in the Honam region, has been delayed for about a month in the aftermath of the emergency martial law crisis.

Iksan City said it had tried to negotiate a last-minute deal for the land sale contract at Costco Iksan within this year, but the schedule was postponed to next month due to the impeachment.

Currently, both Costco and the landowners of Royal Palace in Iksan are adjusting their differences over the relocation of concrete plants near the site.

Iksan City, which originally pushed for the opening of a Costco store within June 2026, the term of Mayor Jeong Heon-yul, believes that the opening will be delayed due to these circumstances.
