National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik stressed that although uncertainty was somewhat reduced by the passing of President Yoon's impeachment, the political and economic circles should stabilize the economy calmly and quickly until the Constitutional Court decides.
Woo made the remarks at a meeting with heads of major economic organizations, including Chey Tae-won, chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Son Kyung-sik, chairman of the Korea Employers Federation, Yoon Jin-sik, chairman of the Korea International Trade Association, and Kim Ki-moon, chairman of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business.
The heads of economic organizations asked Chairman Woo to legislate to stabilize people's livelihoods as soon as possible as the economic situation is difficult, and asked him to work carefully, especially on legislation that could put a burden on business management.
Chairman Sohn Kyung-sik asked for subsidies such as the semiconductor industry and legislation to ease regulations on working hours, and asked for more careful consideration of amendments to the commercial law or extending the legal retirement age.
