The Judiciary Committee's "Lee Jae-myung Trial" battle... "Unfair Prosecution" vs "Strict Punishment"

2024.10.07 오후 10:23
In the Supreme Court's parliamentary audit by the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, the ruling and opposition parties fought over Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who was indicted on seven cases and faces four trials at the same time.

Opposition lawmakers covered Lee, arguing that the investigation targeting Lee was unfair compared to the prosecution's investigation into President Yoon Suk Yeol or that the prosecution's sentence was too heavy compared to similar cases.

On the other hand, the ruling party called for a quick trial, saying that violations of the election law would be sentenced within a year under the law, and that the perjury teacher case involving CEO Lee should also be severely punished, saying that there are many aggravating factors that require heavier sentences under the sentencing standards.
