President Yoon Suk Yeol held his first summit with Japan's new Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on the occasion of his attendance at the ASEAN Summit.

President Yoon Suk Yeol held his first summit at a hotel in Vientiane, Laos' capital, nine days after Ishiba's inauguration.After President Yun

welcomed him with a handshake and repeatedly asked for a handshake in a commemorative photo, the two leaders began the summit with a bright expression.

During the 40-minute meeting, President Yoon first congratulated Prime Minister Ishiba on his inauguration and said that Korea-Japan relations have been making positive developments since his visit to Japan in March last year.

He said that such a change was possible because of the trust between the leaders of the two countries, and that he should promote the development of Korea-Japan relations through close communication with Prime Minister Ishiba.
