Next year's budget bill, which calls for a full cut of special activity costs for the prosecution and the Board of Audit and Inspection, passed the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee led by the opposition party.
The reduced budget is 8 billion won for special activities for the prosecution, 50.6 billion won for specific tasks, 1.5 billion won for special activities and 4.5 billion won for specific tasks for the Board of Audit and Inspection.
The Democratic Party of Korea claimed that the prosecution and the Board of Audit and Inspection were suspected of failing to maintain political neutrality, and that it concluded that it was a full cut because data for accurate budget review were not submitted.
On the other hand, the power of the people did not stop at impeaching the prosecutors who investigated representative Lee Jae-myung, but left the conference room just before the vote, saying that they had cut the budget in retaliation.
