Choi, a medical student in his 20s, was arrested and charged with stabbing his girlfriend to death.
The prosecution asked the court to sentence Choi to death in a final hearing on his murder charges.
The prosecution pointed out that Choi committed the crime as if he had damaged the body.
He also criticized the victim for not showing any apologies to him, claiming that he committed the crime because of threats from the victim's family.
He explained that a dramatic choice is inevitable in the name of justice, and even if the death penalty is not executed, it is appropriate to make him repent for life as a death row prisoner.
The victim's father knelt before the court.
After sending her daughter, who was a precious treasure, the remaining family members were trapped inside the house and spent time only in tears.
He then begged for the death penalty, saying that the murderers should not consider the law ridiculous and commit crimes.
In his final statement, Choi said he apologized to the bereaved families, saying he had done something he should not have done with his own misconception.
Choi was arrested and put on trial on May 6 for stabbing his girlfriend several times on the roof of a building near Gangnam Station in Seoul.
In April, he reported his marriage to the victim, and it was investigated that he committed the crime out of spite when his parents demanded that he break up after learning about it.
Choi was a medical student at a prestigious university in Seoul after receiving a perfect score on the CSAT in the past, and was expelled from the university after the crime was known.
The court decided to issue a first trial sentence for Choi on the 20th of next month after reviewing the trial records, including the results of the psychiatric evaluation.
