Hungarian Prime Minister Orban Viktor, who has been pro-Russia since former U.S. President Trump won re-election, has raised his voice against Ukraine's support.

"The United States will be out of the war in Ukraine," Orban said at an informal EU summit in Hungary, adding that "Europe cannot support the war alone."

"Some still want to send huge amounts of money to a failed war, but more and more people are silent and cautious," Orban said, adding that Ukraine was losing the war.

Prime Minister Orban, who has shown off his friendship with Trump in the past, has been at odds with EU member states, opposing Ukraine aid and Russian sanctions.

However, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stuck to his existing policy, saying, "Russia has invaded Ukraine and continues the war with constant brutality," adding, "We must do what is necessary for our security."

A day earlier, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also criticized Hungary's independent move, saying, "No member state can manage the challenges that are coming alone."
