The government held a cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Han Deok-soo a little while ago and decided to propose a presidential request for the independent counsel law on Kim Gun-hee, the so-called veto.

If President Yoon Suk Yeol approves this, it will be the third veto of the independent counsel law led by the opposition party.

The special prosecution law is characterized by reducing the scope of the investigation from 14 cases to two cases, including "the alleged manipulation of Deutsche Motors stock prices" and "the suspicion related to Myung Tae-kyun."

In addition, the Democratic Party of Korea plans to push for a re-vote at the plenary session of the National Assembly the day after tomorrow (28th) if President Yoon exercises his veto.

Earlier, at a press conference on the 7th, President Yoon expressed his intention to veto the third time, saying, "Although the investigation into Kim has already been conducted sufficiently, the prosecution has not even been able to prosecute him," adding that it is against the Constitution to appoint an independent counsel against the president and the ruling party.
