Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, said he will faithfully implement the process, saying that reasonable conclusions will be made according to the law and common sense and that the political schedule will proceed accordingly.
At a press conference at the National Assembly, Lee replied to the question of whether he would run for president if the case of the Public Official Election Act, which was sentenced to deprivation of the right to vote in the first trial, was sentenced equally in the second trial.
He then stressed that the Constitution adopts the principle of presumption of innocence, saying that many people agree that the prosecution itself is very political and inconsistent with common sense.
Asked if he has an early presidential election in mind, he declined to say, "Now is the time to focus on overcoming the Korean crisis."
