National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik stressed the importance of operating the National Assembly and the government's national stability consultative body proposed by Democratic Party Chairman Lee Jae-myung as soon as possible.
Chairman Woo met with Acting President Han Deok-soo at the National Assembly and said, "There may be conflicts over impeachment, but at that time, the government and the ruling and opposition parties should join forces."
In response, Han said he expects the ruling and opposition parties and the government to cooperate to stabilize the state affairs as soon as possible, and that the government will first seek cooperation.
He added that the most important thing is to maintain the national security and people's livelihoods without wavering, adding that he will do his best, believing that the government will be the last job to settle the state administration as soon as possible.
An official from the National Assembly Speaker's Office said, "Woo will communicate with the ruling party to participate in the consultative body," and explained that when the consultative body is in operation, Han's veto will be discussed comprehensively.
