Two Russian oil tankers collided in bad weather in the Kerch Strait, which connects the Black Sea and the Azou Sea, causing oil to spill into the sea.

"Due to the storm, two oil tankers collided in the Black Sea," the Russian Federal Maritime and Inland Transportation Authority said. "There were 15 and 14 crew members on board, respectively, and oil products were leaked into the sea."

According to the released video, one of the tankers is sinking with major damage and the other is adrift.

Russian authorities say one crew member was killed at the scene of the accident, as rescue efforts are underway.

The extent of the oil spill is not yet known, with Russian media reporting that one of them was carrying about 4,300 tons of fuel.

Kerch Strait is a narrow strait connecting the Black Sea and the Azou Sea, about 41 kilometers long and 4-15 kilometers wide.
