Ministry of Unification "requests careful judgment from anti-North Korean leaflet scattering groups"

After the December 3 emergency martial law incident, the government's attitude toward spraying leaflets to North Korea by private organizations has changed.

Unification Minister Kim Young-ho attended a plenary session of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee and said that the issue of leaflets to North Korea is being managed with the people's lives and safety as the top priority, and on the 12th, he asked the leaflet distribution organization to make a careful judgment.

Earlier, the Ministry of Unification has maintained its position that it is approaching the issue of distributing leaflets to North Korea in order to guarantee freedom of expression.

Minister Kim also newly reported to the National Assembly that he had been called to the presidential office since 8:35 p.m., about an hour and 40 minutes before the Cabinet meeting was held on the day of the declaration of the emergency martial law.

However, he said at the time that he expressed concern that declaring martial law could cause serious problems in the economy and in foreign affairs and security.
