People's Power "Three candidates for the Constitutional Court were absent from the confirmation hearing."

2024.12.17 PM 04:40
People's Power has decided not to participate in the confirmation hearing of three candidates for the Constitutional Court recommended by the National Assembly.

Kim Dae-sik, a senior spokesman for the floor, told reporters that he thinks he will fully interpret the impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk Yeol under the current six-member constitutional judge system.

Opposition parties, including the Democratic Party of Korea, argue that the nine-member Constitutional Court should proceed with the impeachment trial of President Yoon, not the current six-member system, and that the process of appointing three members of the National Assembly should be accelerated.

In response, the people's power is confronting that acting President Han Deok-soo has no authority to appoint a constitutional judge at a time when the president's position is not empty but only his duties have been suspended.

If the power of the people does not come into the special committee for the confirmation hearing of constitutional judges, the Democratic Party of Korea is expected to push for a plan to return to the hearing activities from tomorrow (18th) with only the opposition party participating.
