Appointment of a Constitutional Judge, a fierce battle..."If you're pushed, you'll die."

The ruling party has virtually stepped up, saying it will not attend the confirmation hearing process of three constitutional judges recommended by the National Assembly.

The opposition party says it will hold an independent hearing to pick all of them, but analysts say that it reflects the ruling party trying to buy time, the opposition party trying to pull time somehow, and the cliff-edge "several battles."

Since Acting President Han Deok-soo does not have the authority to appoint three constitutional judges, the People's Power said it will also skip the preparation process for the confirmation hearing.

When I previously recommended a candidate for a constitutional judge to resolve the vacuum, the Democratic Party refused and said that its attitude has changed.

[Kim Dae-sik, floor spokesman for People's Power: It's hard to find justification for rushing to appoint three constitutional judges to save Lee Jae-myung]

The ruling party argues that it is intended to aim for an early presidential election by increasing the possibility of dismissal by forming a full nine-member body, as the current six-member constitutional judge system requires unanimity to be fired.

On the other hand, the Democratic Party of Korea is determined to go through the process alone if the people's power does not attend the Constitutional Court's confirmation hearing special committee.

As the regulation selects the chairman by a majority vote of members of the special committee on the personnel hearing, it will elect the chairman led by the opposition party, which is the majority, and appoint him by the end of this year after completing three constitutional judges' confirmation hearings from the 23rd to the 24th as scheduled.

[Lee Yong-woo / Minjoo Party member: The Constitutional Court is scheduled to hold its first hearing on Dec. 27 to prepare for the impeachment trial, so the National Assembly can no longer postpone the confirmation hearing process in order to review the case under the normal nine-member Constitutional Court....]

In consideration of the nature of the first meeting of the special committee on the appointment of the oldest person as the interim chairman, he also announced that he would mobilize senior lawmakers in the party to block the initial process for the hearing.

However, some analysts say that even if the impeachment is rejected, it may be difficult to maintain his term depending on the results of President Yoon's investigation.

For this reason, it is advantageous for the ruling party to take as much time as possible to see the second trial and final judgment of the Public Official Election Act, which Lee Jae-myung was convicted of in the first trial, in the early presidential election phase.

On the contrary, it is important for the opposition party to create a structure that will lead to the impeachment citation as soon as possible.

In the end, it is expected that the responsibility for the appointment of constitutional judges will fall to acting President Han Deok-soo.

It is pointed out that the political turmoil continues as the ruling and opposition parties continue to take political steps that only take advantage of the constitutionality and illegality of the martial law incident.
