Both the NIS and the military authorities drew the line, saying it was not true, following a media report that the NIS recently shot down North Korea's filth balloon by flying a drone on Baengnyeong Island.

The National Intelligence Service responded to YTN's question today (26th) and said it is working to come up with measures to protect the safety of the people.

In a regular briefing, the Joint Chiefs of Staff also explained that shooting down a filth balloon or conducting similar training on Baengnyeong Island can be an excuse for provocation, and the rate of balloons actually flying is very low.

It is also not true of some reports that there was an order to prepare for shelling targeting North Korea, adding that there was always an immediate response posture, but there was no actual preparation stage or review for firing.

In particular, he said that it is defamatory to mention that major military personnel, including ground operations commander Kang Ho-pil, were mobilized for the operation of the north wind, citing martial law, and that he is considering necessary measures.
